NEA’s vision of a great public school for every student has never been more important than at this moment. The attacks educators and students are facing require us to be bold and rise to the challenge. For public educators to resist and win, we must level up our activists’ organizing and coaching skills. It’s how we won in the past and how we will win again. For this reason, the NEA Center for Organizing and Affiliate Support is launching the Member Organizing Academy.

The MOA (Member Organizing Academy) is a yearlong leadership development opportunity for Member Organizers who are ready to take their organizing skills to the next level. During this year there will be a one-week training (June 22- June 26) where member organizers will receive comprehensive organizing courses through a racial/economic justice lens as well as advanced coaching and organizing training, with a real-life field experience. Support will continue for these new leads via twice monthly check-ins and ongoing training throughout the year.

At the end of the training, member organizers will have the skills to go back to their states as committed leads and help add capacity to support new/existing member organizers.

Member Organizer participants may opt-out of receiving the monthly stipend.

We strongly encourage individuals whose backgrounds and experiences reflect the diversity of the affiliate’s bargaining unit to apply.

Program Dates: June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2027.

Application closes: 4/1/2026

Notifications will begin: 5/1/2026
