Organizing

A culture of organizing is one that promotes deep member engagement, leadership development and collective action. At its core, organizing is building relationships through one-on-one conversations and empowering others to take on leadership roles.

Together We're Heard.

Why Organize?

Effective organizing results in more member engagement, expanding leadership, and real wins on the policies and practices that impact our members, our schools, our students and our communities - grounded in our values of equitable opportunity, a just society, democracy, professionalism, partnership, and solidarity and collective action.

Your Voice Matters

Joining adds your voice to thousands of educators just like you across the state and millions of educators across the country to accomplish things one educator can't do alone.

As a union, we advocate for higher wages, better benefits and improved working conditions for educators. Our working conditions are our students' learning conditions.

Why Become a Member Organizer?

Member Organizers play a vital role in strengthening our union by engaging, educating and empowering fellow members. This opportunity will equip you with organizing skills, leadership experience and the chance to make a meaningful impact in your local, your UniServ and the state!

Member Organizer Expectations:

  • Registration Requirement – All member organizers must officially register with the organization before beginning their duties.
  • Training Completion – Attendance at all required training sessions is mandatory to ensure alignment with organizing goals and best practices.

  • Data Submission – Monthly data reports must be submitted to the Department of Organizing to track progress and engagement efforts through a google form.
  • Effective Communication – Member organizers should maintain regular communication with organizing leads and participate in scheduled check-ins.
  • Engagement & Outreach – Actively recruit and mobilize members, convert members to auto-pay, attend events, and contribute to organizing campaigns.
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism – Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information and conduct organizing work professionally and respectfully.
