Review: A work of genius combining elements of the illustrated novel, wordless storytelling and minimal, brilliant text, The Invention of Hugo Cabret is the story of an orphan with a precious secret to protect and a family mystery to solve. Set in a Paris train station in the 1930s, we see Hugo's secret life intersect with a shop owner and his goddaughter who each protect secrets of their own. Beautiful and memorable.
