2014 Kansas Teacher of the Year Program

Kansas Teacher of the Year Program

Participation Incentive for New School Districts

In an effort to increase participation in the Kansas Teacher of the Year program, the Kansas State Department of Education is pleased to offer a participation incentive for districts new to the program. Through funding from the Kansas Foundation for Excellence in Education, the department will award a stipend of $200 each to no more than 10 school districts that commit to participating in the 2014 Kansas Teacher of the Year program. The 2014 Kansas Teacher of the Year Nomination packet, which includes information about the program, is available at http://www.ksde.org/Default.aspx?tabid=2259.

In a testimonial for the program, Dr. Lance Stout, Superintendent at Liberal USD 480, wrote, “Kansas Teacher of the Year has been a great opportunity for teachers in Liberal. Our educators greatly benefited from their vast experiences in meeting with other teachers and visiting other schools. USD 480 also greatly benefited with lots of quality information being brought back to us from other schools and communities. I am thankful for the opportunity that our deserving staff has had to participate in this wonderful program!”

In order to be considered for the participation incentive, school districts cannot have participated in the program by nominating a teacher for Kansas Teacher of the Year during the past five years. In addition, school districts must agree to a certain level of participation in the program as outlined in the initiative. More information about this initiative is available at http://www.ksde.org/Default.aspx?tabid=2259.

Interested school districts must complete and submit the “2014 Kansas Teacher of the Year Program: Participation Incentive for New School Districts Form” available at http://www.ksde.org/Default.aspx?tabid=2259 so that it arrives at the address noted below on or before Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013:
