Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching

Know a Great 7-12 Math or Science Teacher?

Nominate him or her to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching!

The National Science Foundation currently is accepting nominations and applications for the 2013 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program. PAEMST is the highest recognition that a mathematics or science teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. This program recognizes teachers for their contributions to teaching and learning and their ability to help students make progress in mathematics and science. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.

State Presidential Award finalists receive a $500 unrestricted cash award and an invitation to a professional development conference sponsored by Westar Energy, the Kansas Cosmosphere and the Kansas State Department of Education.  National Presidential awardees receive a citation signed by the President of the United States, a paid trip for two to Washington DC to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.

To apply, teachers must first be nominated for the award. Teachers may nominate themselves or may be nominated by someone else (e.g., principals, teachers, parents, or other members of the general public). Once nominated, teachers will receive an email with instructions on how to access the online application.

The program is now accepting nominations of 7-12 teachers for the nation’s highest honor for mathematics and science teachers.  Anyone can nominate a teacher or they can be self nominated.

Please consider nominating at least one outstanding mathematics or science teacher today!

Nominations close on April 1, 2013
